Qatar has joined the Madrid System for international registration of Trademarks

The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) has announced that the Madrid Protocol now in force in Qatar. With this, Qatar becomes part of the international trademark registration system.

The International system allows an applicant, with the intermediation of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), to secure the protection of a trade mark in Qatar and other member states without having to file national trademarks or hire local agents.

This reduces costs and the administrative burden for international applicants and in that way enables them to more easily export their goods and services abroad and expand their business.
