On June 11, 2024, the Uruguayan Parliament ratified Uruguay's accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). With this, Uruguay becomes the 158th member state of the PCT.
This will make the country more accessible to foreign patent applicants, who will now be able to designate Uruguay as a territory for protection when filing an international PCT patent application, instead of having to file a national patent application directly with the Uruguayan National Directorate of Industrial Property .
"Dr. Emil Benatov & Partners" has many years of experience with filing and prosecuting international patent applications under PCT and is available to assist in obtaining patent protection in Uruguay and worldwide. Learn more about patents at this link and contact us for expert advice.
